By having these 8 essential baking tools in your kitchen, you could start baking delicious desserts in no time. While everyone loves having homemade cookies fresh out of the oven some people find baking from scratch somewhat intimidating! I
New bakers and anyone who doesn’t feel quite comfortable in the kitchen I have some great tips for you to follow. By reading over this list you can see that by investing in some of the kitchen essentials you will be on your way to having a well-equipped kitchen.
Basic Equipment for Baking
Everyone should have some basic equipment or essentials in your kitchen to be able to tackle most baking projects.
If you are a new baker, start with a list of baking must-haves to set up your kitchen. Make a wish list as well with essentials for your kitchen that would be fun to have! These must-have essential baking tools will help you through any kind of recipe.
Measuring Cups ( Liquid and Dry) and Measuring Spoons
When you start to bake, being precise is very important. Having a full set of both dry and liquid measuring cups is important. Here’s a hint; the glass measuring cups are the ones used for liquid ingredients. They give a very accurate measurement of any liquid you might be using in your recipe.
The other set of measuring cups that usually have 1/4 Cup through 1 Cup are used for all your dry ingredients.
Your measuring spoons will include all important measurements for 1/4 teaspoon all the way to the large Tablespoon. This set includes all your necessary cups as well as all the measuring spoons needed for most baking recipes. TIP Capital “T” is always referring to Tablespoon!

Essential Mixing Bowls
Mixing Bowls Come in a variety of sizes. A glass bowl although heavier than popular plastic is great for mixing your ingredients. They are also safe for dishwasher use and even clean up well when washing your bowls by hand if a dishwasher is not in your kitchen.
A nice size set of bowls from small 1.2 Cup size up to the large mixing bowl will be a great addition to your kitchen.
Mixers
Many bakers love having the convenience of a Kitchen Aid mixer. You can add your ingredients and not have to stand and mix by hand.
The mixer comes with a paddle, wire, and bread dough attachment for a variety of dough. There are many extra attachments that you can also purchase to add to your machine.
They are on the expensive side but last a long time I am still using the one I bought back in the early ’90s! That is with almost daily use. If this type of mixer will be put on your wish list you can always purchase a hand mixer right now.
Be sure to check out the reviews. If you are able to pay a little extra to be able to have one with a little more power for your baking, you’ll be glad you did! Below is a “link” to some to one mixer but of course there are all price ranges to choose from!
Spatula & Wooden Spoons
These are a couple of things that make things much easier in your kitchen. Spatulas come in a variety of sizes ( widths) Each size has a certain purpose but if you can only buy one I would recommend one that is about 2 inches wide.
This is a pretty Universal size that will help remove your baked items from either a cookie sheet or baking dish. Wooden spoons are great since they are usually built solid and will help with mixing that cookie dough.
Essential Cookie Sheets and Baking Dishes
Most cakes can be baked in a 9 x 13-inch pan, if you only have the budget or room for one dish be sure to have this size in your kitchen. Not only can you bake your favorite cake or brownie recipe but This dish size is great for layered desserts too.
There are a variety of cookie sheets to choose from. I have always loved my air bakes. They bake each & every tray evenly, Just a note that they do need hand washed and can’t be submerged in water. They clean up easy so I wouldn’t let this one feature shy you away from a great cookie sheet.
So as you can see with having these 8 items in your kitchen you can begin baking.
Most family & friends love sharing recipes and with a little practice, you will be baking cookies and cakes from scratch and feeling so proud of yourself in no time! Here is a favorite recipe post you should try! Blueberry Cake,
